? Celebrating 25 years of Tomb Raiding ? Games, Movies, Comics, Animated shows, mobile games, everything. You have clearly showed that there was no need to change her face for having a not-sexualised character, simply because no trait of a face can be sexual.Īnd what about the hair? Finally not that unpractical mop with a ponytail attached to it anymore, but that iconic braid and the bun.Welcome to the Tomb Raider Subreddit where we discuss everything related to Tomb Raider starring Lara Croft - from her adventures in video-games to her expeditions in movies, this is the place to discuss the Tomb Raider franchise! This is how Lara should have always been and I don't say that specifically for the iconic outfit and the other ones that you have majestically done, but for the shape of her body and mostly for her face. This in the most natural evolution of Lara from TR Underworld, before the reboot saga that drastically changed her.Ĭonsidering that in TR Underworld she still has a cartoonish look, Idek how difficult it was to take back her iconic traits, but still keeping them so realistic. It's only about money and politics for them. For other media, like shows, movies, comics idk wtf is wrong with those people and how they write and make such a beloved character into trash story. It is not about passion, like how we see it.
For the next game, the company is making the move that they think the majority will like and make them the most money. By rebooting/unifying the timeline, at least there is an assurance that even if they ruin a new Lara, Survivor Lara will be safe and unchanged. This will very well end up happening to our dear Lara as the stepping stones of her demise are already in place. To me, it's like Star Wars and the sequel trilogy and how they are disrespecting the character and lore.
The first movie was already bad, but I am more concerned about the show as it is about Survivor Lara. A solution may be to use a forward time jump but at that point why not make Lara a balance of all her iterations if you want a fresh start, especially when many fans have been wanting her for so long? I should mention I think the Netflix show and TR 2 movie are going to be shit bc they are following the footsteps of Shadow. Seeing this poor writing and even game design management, I feel this is a necessary sacrifice as her story would only keep being ruined and it is too late to turn back. I personally feel they did not handle Shadow too well and am still upset that many elements of TR2013 was ignored and relegated to the side in documents etc. Tbh TR2013/ROTTR are like alternate takes on a young Lara (not to mention the design change too). I see you, but I have to mention that imo the narrative had a lot of lost potential. I like that SOTTR have less combat because i never to be honest liked combat in 2013 and ROTTR but like i said it was visible that some people prefer to have more combat i really think that splitting fans even more is not wise. I think they should stick to survival Lara because if they will make more and more versions there will be more people to be dissapointend because some fans will want to have classic, others survival and other unified version of her even even when SOTTR was released there is visible that some fans which like 2013 and ROTTR were dissapointed because there was less combat than in previous two. Crystal and Eidos written her very well showing how she becoming more experience but also showing her flaws and created good backstory and good everything around her. I agree with you but it will be shame if they throw away survival Lara i played LAU trilogy(and a bit of classic games but i never completed them because of outdated controls) but it was Lara from survival trilogy which i found to be interesting protagonist not LAU or classic Lara.
